Two New Physicians Set To Join Marshall Medical Centers' Cancer Care Team

GUNTERSVILLE, ALABAMA – May 17, 2012 - Marshall Medical Centers will welcome two new physicians to its medical staff at the Cancer Care Center at Marshall Medical Centers this summer - Dr. Gideon Ewing and Dr. Jonathan Storey. Drs. Ewing and Storey join Dr. J.T. (Tom) Payne to round out the Marshall Medical Centers’ cancer care team.
Dr. Gideon Ewing, a specialist in Hematology/Oncology, is a graduate of the University of Mississippi School of Medicine and completed his residency in Internal Medicine and a fellowship in Hematology / Oncology at Vanderbilt University Medical Center. He is board certified in Internal Medicine and Hematology / Oncology, and will begin seeing patients on June 1.
Dr. Ewing’s wife, Dr. Alicia Ewing, a pediatrician, will join the medical staff of Marshall County Pediatrics on a part-time basis. She is also a graduate of the University of Mississippi School of Medicine, completed her residency at Vanderbilt University Medical Center and is certified by the American Board of Pediatrics.
The Drs. Ewing have two children, Eleanor, age 4, and Owen, 5 months.
Dr. Jonathan Storey will begin seeing patients at the Cancer Care Center in July. Dr. Storey, also board certified in Internal Medicine and Hematology/Oncology, is a graduate of the University of South Florida College of Medicine. He completed his residency program in Internal Medicine at Wake Forest University where he also completed a fellowship in Hematology/Oncology. Dr. Storey’s wife, Amanda, is also a physician – specializing in family medicine.
The Drs. Storey have three children. They are twin boys, Ashton and Elliot, age six, and son, Grayson, two months.
Radiation and medical oncology services have been available at the Cancer Care Center at Marshall Medical Center South since the mid 90’s. “The addition of these two new physicians will enable us to expand our oncology coverage at Marshall South and begin providing services at Marshall North as well,” says Cindy Sparkman, the director of the Cancer Care Center
Dr. Ewing and Dr. Storey will join the veteran member of the Marshall Medical Cancer Care Center medical staff - Dr. Tom Payne. Dr. Payne joined the MMCS Cancer Care medical staff in 2006, graduated from the Medical University of South Carolina and completed his residency at the University of Kentucky Chandler Medical Centers. Dr. Payne is board certified in Radiation Oncology. Dr. Payne and his wife, Michelle, have three children - Faith, 16, Michael, 11, and Mark, 9.
