Community Service Through Our School Outreach Program

Marshall Therapy & Sports Rehab is committed to excellence in student-athlete healthcare through our school outreach program. From middle school to community college, we are available on school campuses and at sporting events, providing the young athletes in our area with consistent, quality care related to their sports activities.

One specific commitment is to provide local high schools with one-on-one sports medicine coverage, wherever possible. This is accomplished by placing one dedicated certified athletic trainer on these campuses. The education and experience of the Marshall Therapy & Sports Rehab athletic training team allow us offer the community the highest level of service available in this area.

The outreach program team stays up to date through research and continuing education. The athletic training staff works to improve the overall functional, agility, and strength skills of student athletes in Marshall County and surrounding counties, through ongoing education and involvement in research in related areas.

Whether you're an athletic director, coach, high school or collegiate athlete, or just a weekend warrior, you need the competitive edge that the Marshall Sports Medicine team can provide. From individual athletes to team conditioning programs, we have the expertise to get you in the game of life. And win!

What is an athletic trainer?

Athletic trainers, also called ATCs, are sometimes confused with personal trainers or EMTs. There is a big difference, though. Athletic trainer requirements and responsibilities are:

  • A bachelor’s degree or higher in athletic training
  • Provide physical medicine and rehabilitation services
  • Prevent, diagnose, treat and rehabilitate injuries (acute and chronic)
  • Work in schools, colleges, professional sports, clinics, hospitals, corporations, industry or military
  • Keep knowledge and skills current by participating in continuing education
  • Coordinate care with physicians and other allied health professionals

The National Athletic Trainers' Association defines athletic trainers as health care professionals who collaborate with physicians. The services provided by athletic trainers comprise prevention, emergency care, clinical diagnosis, therapeutic intervention and rehabilitation of injuries and medical conditions.
